Dorothy Wellington Larsen

Sadness came to Mackinac last week, when news came of the death of Dorothy Wellington Larsen of Saginaw, who passed away Thursday, May 22, following a lengthy illness.

Dorothy was born August 1, 1930, on Mackinac Island, one of seven children of Charles P. and Helen Doud Wellington.

She attended the Thomas W. Ferry School, and nursing school at Saginaw General Hospital. She worked as a registered nurse in the pediatric unit at St. Luke's Hospital in Saginaw.

The Mackinac Island Public School is dedicated to Dorothy's father, Charles P. Wellington.

Dorothy was a very kind and loving person with a sweet disposition.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter and their families, two sisters, Mary Alice and Helen Ann, and two brothers, George and John.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James, sister, Jean, and son, William.

A funeral liturgy was held Tuesday, May 27, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Saginaw.

Memorials can be made to St. Andrew's Catholic Church or to the St. Andrew's Parish Food Pantry in Saginaw.

Island friends send deepest sympathy to the family.
