BY JEANNETTE DOUD

Easter Sunday was a beautiful Mackinac day, with mild temperatures, blue skies, and calm winds. Father Rey Garcia and Deacon Dean Hermann officiated at the 11 a.m. Mass at Ste. Anne’s. Easter lilies and spring flowers decorated the historic church as Peggy Bynoe, Dan Seeley, Trish Martin, and Katlyn McKay provided the music. A large crowd attended the service, which was followed by refreshments and an Easter egg hunt for the children.

Spring has certainly come early this year. With mild temperatures, folks have been enjoying rounds of golf, riding around the Island, hiking, and the blooming spring flowers. The sunrises and sunsets have been breathtaking. We’ve had tourists coming to Mackinac on spring break, and Jason St. Onge’s paint crew at Grand Hotel started to paint the front of the building. A year ago, we still had snowbanks and were riding snowmobiles. It certainly is different this year.
