Little Stone Church To Honor Maritime Work

A Maritime Labor Celebration service will be held Sunday, September 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Little Stone Church. The third annual service will celebrate past and present Great Lakes maritime workers.

Robert Thibaudeau, commander of the M/V James R. Barker will be present at the service to share his love of the lakes. The service will also feature those who helped restore the Bernida, the sailboat that won first place at the inaugural Bayview Mackinac Yacht race.

“We’ve always made a big deal of Labor Day,” said Reverend Vince Carroll, “but we recently began to focus on the labor of the Great Lakes.”

Glenn Seven Allen will be featured during the service, as well as Jeff Steiner, who wrote a song about the Bernida.

The Interlake Steamship Line will make a special presentation to Little Stone Church during the service, and the public is welcome to take part in a reception outside the church after worship.
