May 8 Election Results Announced

The annual Mackinac Island city election took place Tuesday, May 8, with all candidates unopposed. With 106 votes cast out of 765 eligible voters, or a 13.9% turnout, Mayor Margaret Doud received 85 votes, City Clerk Danielle Wightman received 92 votes, City Treasurer Richard Linn received 93 votes, Supervisor Bradley Chambers received 83 votes, Assessor Robert G. Benser received 70 votes, and Councilor Dennis Bradley received 87 votes. The only candidate who was not an incumbent, Brian Bailey received 78 votes to be elected to the City Council for his first term.
