Taco Ride in Memory of Dorothy ‘Toby’ Dehring Will Be June 10

A special cycling event in honor of the late Dorothy “Toby” Dehring will be held Sunday, June 10, as friends and family gather to ride bicycles and eat tacos in her memory, all the while raising money for Alzheimer’s research.

Mrs. Dehring, a lifelong resident of Mackinac Island, passed away in 2017 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her daughter, Sarah Dehring of Alma, is organizing the fundraiser in her memory. For the last five years, Ms. Dehring has participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Detroit, and the proceeds from the Team Toby Dehring Taco Ride will be donated to this year’s benefit walk that will be held August 25.

The ride costs $30 to participate. The entrance fee includes a shirt, bracelet, and admission to the taco bar buffet at the Mustang Lounge on Astor Street. Participants can depart for the bicycle ride from the Mustang Lounge anytime between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday.

Those who cannot attend the fundraiser can contact Ms. Dehring to donate to Team Toby at (231) 349-3288 or dehringsm@alma.edu.
