Bogan To Host Reading at Little Stone Church July 16

James J. Bogan, Jr. will read poetry at Little Stone Church Monday, July 16, at 6 p.m. from his newest book, “Seven Wonders of Mackinac and Other Amazements.”

Dr. Bogan began working here in 1962 as a soda jerk at Jim Dennany’s Icehouse, was a lifeguard at Grand Hotel, and a caddie for Dickie Bazinaw. He later would earn three English degrees.

He has been a summer resident here since 1972.

Dr. Bogan was a professor of writing, literature, film, and art history at the Missouri University of Science & Technology.

His other published works include “Ozark Meandering,” “Sparks of Fire,” and “Bound to BelĂ©m.” His film credits include “Brazilogy,” “Tom Benton’s Missouri,” “Naked Bronze,” and “Man vs. Tree.”
