Youth Camp Will Begin July 9 at Community Equestrian Center

A five-day Horse Camp to teach young riders the responsibility of caring for animals and other horsemanship skills will be held for children ages five through 15 at the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center from Monday, July 9, through Friday, July 13.

The program fosters teamwork through group activities and is conducted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Riding will be stressed this year, and students will be taught to identify breeds and to polo-wrap horses legs for protection from minor scrapes and bruises while preventing irritation from sand or arena footing.

Crafts, a waterslide, horse games and other activities will also be provided.

The cost is $450, and daily camp rates are available.

Register online at mackinachorses.org/horse-camps.

A four-day camp will be held Monday, July 30 to Thursday, August 2. Cost of that camp is $350.
