Sparkling Sisters Celebrate an Island Tradition

Sisters Kim Cullen (left) and Julie Amman have been visiting Mackinac Island on the Fourth of July for 18 years. They live in Monroe and Waterford, respectively, and Independence Day is their favorite holiday, in part because it falls in the summer. They embellish their festive decorations every year, and even their hairpieces are homemade. Jody Barna at Rose Gazebo on Market Street says they are her favorite customers because of the joy and creativity they bring to the holiday and to the store.
