At left: Ninety-six-year-old Marines veteran Milton Tracy St. Onge (right) is a decorated U.S. Marines Corps combat veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theatre as a member of Company G, Second Battalion, 22nd Marines, First Provisional Brigade, participating in several offensives on the Marshall Islands before being wounded during the assault of Guam. He was awarded the Silver Star, the third highest award for valor in the armed forces, and received a Purple Heart. He inspired fellow Marine Delbert Bunker to help establish the Veterans Memorial on Mackinac Island. The two Mackinac Island natives got together recently at Mr. St. Onge’s home in Florida. 27p18.jpg
