Gary LaPine

Gary LaPine, 64, of Mackinac Island, passed away early Thursday morning, January 24, 2019, at Evergreen Living Center in St. Ignace, following a long illness. He had been in long-term care for 14 years.

He was born June 17, 1954, to David and Margaret (nee Perrault) LaPine of Mackinac Island in Sault Ste. Marie.

Mr. LaPine worked for Mackinac Island State Park for several years. He retired because of poor health.

He was a member of Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church on Mackinac Island. He was also a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

He is survived by his twin brother, Larry LaPine, who is a resident of Evergreen Living Center; three other brothers and their families, David and Jan LaPine of St. Ignace, Richard and Doris LaPine, also of St. Ignace, and Bruce and Patty LaPine of Mackinac Island, and two sisters and their families, Terry Beaune of Brimley and Patty Satterlee of St. Ignace.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie Smith.

Services will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Ste. Anne’s Cemetery on Mackinac Island.

Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.
